The strength of the deadly storm prompted the most severe wind warning from the National Weather Service on Tuesday.
A super typhoon with ferocious winds and heavy rains is battering a group of remote U.S. island in the Pacific Ocean.
Flights are canceled, schools are closed and flood risks are rising as the typhoon moves near Guam and the Northern Marianas.
But there were no early reports of casualties from the storm, which was named Sinlaku and was moving northwest of the region.
