The Klein Tools, Model # VDV770-855, is pair of handy replacement cables for use with any brand of RJ11 telephone jack tester and RJ45 data jack Tone and Probe Test and Trace kit. This wire kit includes one 6” telephone cable that has the standard RJ11 modular jack on one end and pair of 2” red and black plastic insulated covered alligator clips. The telephone test cable allows you to plug into the modular telephone jack connector and then attach the alligator clips to your “telephone butt” set to see if you have dial tone, whether you can receive an incoming call, be able to call out as well, plus test for line polarity. The second test cable is 6” long and has double ended RJ45 modular male jacks. The RJ45 cable is great to connect to your data line tester to an Ethernet data line to check for proper wiring sequence and tracing. This wiring set is a direct replacement for the two test cables that come with the Klein Tone and Probe Tester and Tracer Kit model # VDV500-705.

The tone and probe tool...
Reviewed on www.homedepot.com·HomeDepotCustomer
The tone and probe tool from Klein is a really helpful tool but the cables and clips are pretty delicate. My probe kit gets used in some very rough places but the plastic Ethernet and cable connectors are very easy to break. It is good to replace these cables when they get pretty beat up to make sure everything is working great. More than once I have simply misplaced my cables and couldn't find them.

Great replacement parts for tester. Perfect extra or replacement parts for your various Klein testing or tracing equipment. These are made with nice high quality connectors and wires with strain relief fittings to handle the daily abuse of construction sites. Even if the cables you use everyday have no problems it's always a good idea to have a extra set so you dont have any down time on the job.

I purchased Klein Tools Replacement Cables for the Tone and Probe Test and Trace Kit to use as a backup in the event I misplaced the original cables or left them at a previous worksite. There’s no good substitute for Klein’s Tone and Probe Trace Kit cables. I carry the test equipment and the original cables in a fabric case. I carry the spare set in a separate fabric case to protect the cables from damage. The cables in the cable kit are a well constructed and an exact match for the original ones with the same length, same RJ45 & RJ11 connectors & alligator clips.

If you have a Klein Tone and Probe Test Kit, you will need this replacement Kit at some time. As you know the tips are easily broken off and very easy to misplace. For the cost of the replacement kit, it ridicules not to have one in your tool box at the cost being around $5.00. With the Alligator tip, I have traced pairs for connectivity to make sure I have no broken connection with the provided wire pair identification tool. The RJ11 allows for a POTS phone to plugs into a RJ45 data jack. So, you have the best replacement at a very low price.

Had no problems at all and it worked great. 2 weeks after my home depot 30 day warranty, I was testing 15 data cables. First 3 tested fine. Fourth one the #4 light didn't respond on either end. Thought there was a cut cable, reterminated both ends. Still no #4 light. Tested 2 more cables, all had no #4 light. Tested my tester cables and changed the batteries, still no light. Bought the exact same testers and tested them with the old testers. Problem is with the wand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a toner for wire tracing and figured since this also tests network cables (which isn't a feature I absolutely need but still occasionally come across) why not? First week I used it exclusively to tone out mislabeled wires on a 3 tower high rise project and it worked great. Haven't used the Network tester much aside from identifying patch/crossover cables, but it's nice to not have to buy another tester for that, great price point too.

Went to put up Christmas lights on porch and found no juice to duplex outlet. Crawled around up in my attic tracing romex wires. Liked to kill me doing that. Small spaces and insulation all over me. Bought signal tracer and hooked up to wires in porch. Just waved the tracer in the air up toward ceiling and heard signal. Followed it all the way back to a tripped gfi on the other side of the house. Never would have guessed it went all the way over there.

This set is essential for testing most any wire set. Network, Telco, Voice, Digital, even analog.\r\nYou can use these with many different testers although work best with the Klein testers.\r\nThe modular or clips can be used with either part of a test kit.\r\nIt's essential though when tracing wires especially to find a short or just to make sure it's the right wire.\r\nYou need these because it beats trying to make your own from scratch.

The REPLACEMENT CABLES FOR TONE AND PROBE TEST AND TRACE KIT came quickly. They were well packaged and were not damaged. These cables worked well with my other Klein Tools test equipment. I am building a new house and here cables are are a big help in troubleshooting issues and checking new work. They came at just the right time during the construction. Great product that solves many problems!

Perfect...even if for just one use.

Tool allowed me to troubleshoot and diagnose my ethernet cables to figure out why I wasn't getting signal to my downstairs jack. Figured it out...and didn't have to pay four times as much for a Verizon tech to come do it. Some reviews are bad due to it not working quickly after some use or time, but I'll take spending the $50 to get a ROI of $150.

This is much more practical then the VDV500-920 for I.T. Departments using ethernet networking specifically because it tests wire pairs and you can plug in a terminated connector into it instead of having to get down to the copper.

At first I thought I was great, I nice little tester/probe combo.

Last week when I used to tone out a cable in a bundle, the tone was very week and as soon as I touched the cable jacket, it screeched then went silent until I moved away from the cable jacket.
Still getting used to the button on the probe just activates the light, you need to turn the dial on the side to turn probe on or off and control volume.
Tester has now stopped working properly. I use it as a quick wiremap check, not full cable certification. Pin 2 is now not lighting up on the probe side and the toner side pin 2 is shines bright. I also am not seeing shorts across pins be indicated on the probe side, but LEDs on the toe side shine a tad brighter on the shorted pins.

Physically both look fine but they just decided to quit one day. I CANNOT recommend this product. How can you make a product only last so long?
